SILVER CELTIC TORQUE

We were commissioned to make a sterling silver Celtic neck torque, and here is what we came up with. The customer wanted a very thick, heavy piece, so we used a length of stainless steel nautical cable as a base. (This also gave the torque great flexibility). We then added layers of plain, twisted and beaded wire in a twisting pattern, and soldered two handmade end-caps to complete the torque.
The torque of the ancient Celts seem to be related to wealth and status, as well as to the warriors of that time. I have also seen several references to a belief that these torques had a magical ability to ward off evil.
We can make torques in a wide variety of styles, with many different kinds of end caps.
